Sample Shipping March 2009
Production Plan 500,000/month
Sample Price $5.00

SANYO Semiconductor Co., Ltd. has developed an environment-friendly microcontroller "LC87F7932B" which contributes to the reduction of power consumption of electronic equipment. Sample shipment is expected to begin in March 2009 at the price of $5.00.

The "LC87F7932B" reduces standby power consumption of battery driven mobile devices. By optimizing circuit design, the current consumption in real time clock operation was reduced below 0.5ľA, which is the lowest in the industry. The power consumption was reduced by 85% compared to our existing products.

Five types of oscillation circuits are incorporated. Under program control, the most suitable one can be selected according to the application. Manchester method that is reliable in data transmission and noise rejection is available in communication. We will continuously contribute to lower power consumption of electronic equipment through the development of "Easy-to-Use, Design-Friendly and Environment-Friendly" microcontrollers.

Product Main Features

  1. Achieves the industry's lowest*1 current consumption of 0.5µA in real time clock operation*2
Current consumption in real time clock operation*1 is below 0.5ľA(typical), which is the lowest in the industry. Power consumption was reduced by 85% compared to our existing products. Current consumption necessary for liquid crystal display in real time clock operation is 0.7ľA(typical), reducing power consumption by 90% compared to our existing products. Current consumption was drastically reduced by optimizing circuit design for reducing power consumption so that the battery life of electronic equipment can be significantly extended.
  2. Programmable selection of most suitable oscillation circuit.
CF circuit, 4MHz variable oscillation circuit, internal RC circuit, internal low-speed RC circuit, and crystal oscillation circuit are incorporated as oscillation circuits. The most suitable oscillation circuit can be selected under program control that best fits the application of equipment. Number of parts was reduced by incorporating oscillation circuit into the microcontroller.
  3. Manchester method is available for encoding serial communication
In serial communication (UART function), Manchester method is available for encoding transmitted data in addition to NRZ (Non Return to Zero) method. Encoding by Manchester method enables assured data transmission and is effective in noise rejection.
